Airdrie Team - Nova
My path toward midwifery started with a spark of interest at 13 years old, when I supported my mom giving birth to my youngest sister at home with an experienced, kind midwife in attendance. Over the years as I interacted with midwives, I was struck by their compassion and skill, which encompassed not just the physical and medical aspects of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, but the social and emotional aspects of the pregnancy process as well. It struck me that giving respectful, personalized care during a transformative time in life had the ability to empower birthing people, build healthy families, and make the world a better place. Being on the receiving end of midwifery care during my own pregnancy only confirmed that I wanted to provide this kind of care myself.
I spent most of my 20s in graphic design and publishing, but my heart kept being pulled back toward midwifery. I began working as a birth doula in 2011, and then completed Mount Royal’s Bachelor of Midwifery program, graduating in 2019. Over the past 8 years I have had the honour of supporting many expecting families in Calgary and rural Southern Alberta. I am so excited to join the Birth Partnership Airdrie Midwives, and look forward to being part of your unique journey.
