I always feel honoured and blessed to witness the miracle of each birth. Although I have had the privilege to be at many births, including the birth of my 3 grandchildren, each one brings the uniqueness of love and wonder. My journey started in England, where I graduated as a midwife and practiced midwifery up until my family and I choose to come to Canada. I worked as a registered nurse in Alberta on Labour and Delivery, until I was selected to participate in the Nurse Midwifery Research study in 1991. Upon the completion of this project, I went on to establish Birth Partnership, a private midwifery practice, with Patty Lenstra, where I practiced midwifery for 12 years. I returned to Nursing on Labour and delivery, where I continued in the support and care of women and families. I would like to express my gratitude to all families that have allowed me to participate in one of life's greatest moments, and to my husband and family who's support has allowed me to continue on this fulfilling career |
